Thread: Guide to setup Windows via SSH

Hi quite long time im looking for easy step by step manual which will guide anyone to setup Windows desktop system on Linux (CentOs) OS.

I mean: I have basic CentOs linux installation and SSH access + i have Windows 2003 (or 2008) ISO file.

How to setup Remote desktop Windows via SSH step by step?!

If you dont have remote control on Desktop Mode on a linux server ,and you only have SSH access, you are screwed.
This is because ssh is like telnet, a command prompt mode. You cant access a GUI like in windows from a command prompt in linux, you can use VNC etc to access the gui mode of linux, once in gui mode , you can use vbox to setup a windows server and setup xrumer on that box. But forget about accessing xrumer running on windows, inside a linux box, via SSH mode.
It its not that its impossible, the tasks will include a lot of work and will eventually leave you with nothing gained. Just get into GUI mode in linux and you are ready. :P

I spent all night doing this... finally got realvnc installed on my linux box, installed virtualbox, connected to the unix GUI and now I'm transferring the Windows 2008 iso over to this box - I'm hoping xrumer can actually run smoothly this way. If not I guess I'll see if they can partition the disk somehow and let me install Windows (somehow).

I managed to create Linux remote desktop on Instantcpanelhosting.com it has software called Wine which is able to run certain Windows application. But i also tried Virtualbox as Osho mentions, and Virtualbox did not worked there. Reason? OpenVZ virtualization. You might be lucky at KVM or XEN virtualization. Ask your hosting provider.
